Hey dolls! Just as promised, I’m coming to you with the second trend in my five-part series. This particular trend, while not necessarily ground-breaking, is certainly note-worthy this season. Perhaps you’ve noticed that faux leather is popping up everywhere. From fashion runways to city streets, this trend is being worn by women of all shapes and sizes. It’s so hot right now! Let’s take a closer look at some reasons for its attraction and appeal in more detail.
Depending on your age, you may or may not know that faux leather has not always been a popular choice. For instance, back in the day when I was a young teen developing my own sense of personal style, faux leather was actually frowned upon because it was considered cheap and basically a knock-off of real leather. The more fashionable choice by far at the time was genuine leather. I don’t think any of us would argue that real leather looks and feels fantastic. So how did faux leather eventually garner a top position in the fashion world?
Well, unlike real leather, faux leather is extremely durable, resists damage like scrapes and scratches, and does not fade as easily. What’s also worth mentioning is the vast improvement that manufactures have made to the actual look and feel of faux leather. Today it’s hard to tell faux leather pieces from the real deal due to the fact that the sheen and luster is a lot better than it used to be. In my personal experience I enjoy wearing faux leather over leather because it has a lot more stretch and elasticity. As with many other trends, wearing faux leather has been popularized by numerous celebrities as well. Last but not least, the cost of faux leather makes it super affordable, therefore giving it mass appeal to those of us who love the look of leather, but not its expense. For these reasons, faux leather has established itself as one of the top seasonal trends year after year for quite some time. Take a look at two more of my favorite faux leather looks below.
If I’m being completely honest, I have to admit that I have not acquired all the faux leather pieces that I desire. I’m still on the lookout for the perfect leggings for my body type. I’m a pear with skinny legs, so it’s been difficult to find faux leather leggings that have that tight leg fit that I like. My quest will continue, and when I find the perfect ones you’ll be the first to know.
I hope that as I continue to build my collection you will do the same. Be sure to comment on this post and sign up for my newsletter.
